With Instant Match, Thumbtack matches you with a new customer based on your job preferences, travel area, and availability. And we stop matching you with new customers as soon as you reach your budget limit.
Here are four ways you can get in front of more customers with Instant Match.
1) Broaden the types of jobs you quote on.
If you let us know you do additional types of work, we can match you with more customers.
To update your job preferences:
- Go to your Services tab and select a service.
- Then select “Edit Instant Match settings.”
- Next, go to job and travel preferences and select “Edit.”
- Go to job type preferences and select “Edit” next to each option where you can review and expand your selections.
2) Expand your travel area.
When you add zip codes to your service area, we’ll match you with customers in additional locations.
To update your travel area:
- Go to your Services tab and select a service.
- Then select “Edit Instant Match settings.”
- Next, go to job and travel preferences and select “Edit.”
- To adjust your travel area, go to your travel preferences and select “Edit travel area.”
3) Free up your schedule.
Try opening up your working hours. That way, we can match you with more jobs.
To change your general availability:
- Go to your Calendar.
- Then select the settings icon on the top right. (It looks like a gear.)
- You’ll then see questions about when you usually work. Consider expanding your hours or the days you work. Learn more about setting up your calendar.
4) Increase your budget.
If you set your budget too low, you could reach your limit quickly. That means for the rest of the week, we won’t send any quotes for you, and you’ll miss out on meeting new customers until the following Monday.
To increase your budget:
- Go to your Services tab and select a service.
- Then select “Edit Instant Match settings.”
- Go to Budget alert and select “Edit.”
- Increase the amount to whatever you choose.
Not sure what your budget should be? We recommend setting it to three times the cost of one customer contact for that type of job. Not sure what a contact costs? Take a look.
